AICE Program is Introduced at LPA

The AICE program, or Cambridge Advanced International Certificate of Education, is a new addition to LPA’s roster of high academic achievement courses, which currently include the International Baccalaureate Program (IB) and Advanced Placement (AP) courses.

The AICE program is an advanced course that encourages students to think critically about modern issues as a means to develop their skills in reading and writing. It also seeks to strengthen student’s ability to communicate in English.

The AICE program counts as an English class credit towards Florida graduation requirements and gives students an opportunity to earn a college elective credit at no cost to families. Like the IB program, it prepares students for hard college classes at a more rapid pace than traditional coursework. Furthermore, the AICE diploma, which is internationally recognized, qualifies students for the Florida Academic Bright Futures Scholarship.

I had the opportunity to speak to one of our esteemed AICE teachers, Ms. Montgomery. She believes that “The AICE program will help students become stronger critical readers, writers, and thinkers, and those skills can transfer to most other academic fields of study."

Currently, LPA only offers the AICE General Paper course in 9th, 10th, and 11th grades. Interested incoming and current high school students can consider this college level course during spring semester course selection.
