In this interview, Annarose Hilhorst talks to senior tennis player Jaclyn Dyer who has been playing competitively for 12 years. She started playing for Lincoln Park Academy in 2019, while she was still in middle school, and has remained the first seed in both singles and doubles ever since.

When asked about her background in tennis, she says, "I've been playing tennis competitively for about 12 years now, both through high school and club. I started playing for Lincoln Park Academy in 2019 while I was still in middle school, and since then, I've remained the first seed in both singles and doubles."

For Jaclyn, tennis has been a passion for as long as she can remember. However, it was when she made the high school team as an 8th grader and secured a high ranking that she realized her potential. She says, "As an 8th grader, making the high school team, let alone at such a high rank, was probably the moment I realized that I was actually really good at tennis. Tennis had been my greatest passion for longer than I could remember, but seeing as I was competing and dominating at such a high level, I realized that I had real potential to do something with this passion."

Balancing academic and athletic commitments is never easy, and for this tennis player, it was no different. She admits that time management was a challenge, particularly in her junior year. However, she made a conscious decision to prioritize her passions and made adjustments to her academic life in her senior year. She says, "For my senior year, I decided that I was going to prioritize my passions and made a major adjustment to my academic life. My hard work in the previous years of high school allowed for a more relaxed schedule as a senior, and of course, I used the abundance of free time to continue pursuing my training as much as possible."

For Jaclyn Dyer, her passion for the sport has opened up a world of opportunities, both on and off the court. She has learned the value of hard work, dedication, and perseverance, which will undoubtedly serve her well in any future endeavors.

It is clear that Jaclyn's passion for the sport has been a defining factor in her success. It is through her passion that she has discovered her potential and learned valuable life skills that will undoubtedly serve her well in the future. Tennis is not just a game for her; it is a way of life, and one that has brought her great joy, success, and fulfillment.
